Yes! I just started reading to my 13 yr old again–partially because, although she used to be a voracious reader of new content, she’s become increasingly reluctant to read anything but her same standard series, which she reads over and over again. Reading with her is one way I get her to open up to new possibilities. We’re in the middle of Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass, but also on the agenda for this summer is The Giver and To Kill a Mockingbird.

I’m glad to hear that you are also having positive experiences with this! I will warn you, To Kill a Mockingbird gets intense, but it is totally worth it.

I still read aloud with my daughter and she’s 21, we read books aloud to each other, it’s brilliant for discussing the story as we go along. Currently reading Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake.

I do the same with my daughter! It’s been going on since we started our mother-daughter book club when she was 8. Happy reading!
